Telehealth Policy

Dahlia Mind and Body
Feel Well. Live Well. Age Well.

Effective Date: October 12, 2026

1. Overview of Telehealth Services

Dahlia Mind and Body provides personalized healthcare services through telehealth, allowing patients to receive medical and psychiatric care through secure, interactive video technology.

Our services focus on women's mental and emotional well-being, hormonal health, metabolic health, sleep, and healthy aging.

Telehealth provides a convenient way to access care while maintaining a personalized, collaborative relationship with your healthcare provider.

2. Patient Eligibility and Location

Dahlia Mind and Body currently offers telehealth appointments to eligible patients physically located in:

  • Iowa

  • Nebraska

  • Washington

Patients must be physically located in a state where the provider is authorized to practice at the time of their appointment.

Patients are required to confirm their physical location at the beginning of each visit. The provider may also request verification of identity and a telephone number for use in emergencies or technical interruptions.

Appointments cannot proceed when the patient's location or clinical circumstances prevent the lawful or appropriate delivery of care.

3. Telehealth Appointments

Appointments are conducted through the practice's designated telehealth platform.

Patients are expected to:

  • Attend appointments from a quiet, private location.

  • Use a reliable internet connection and a device with a functioning camera and microphone.

  • Complete required intake forms and consents before their visit.

  • Provide accurate and current health information.

  • Inform the provider of changes in medications, symptoms, or health conditions.

  • Avoid driving or participating in activities that could compromise safety during the appointment.

The provider may determine that an in-person evaluation or a different level of care is necessary.

4. Privacy and Confidentiality

Dahlia Mind and Body is committed to protecting patient privacy and maintaining the confidentiality of health information in accordance with applicable laws.

Telehealth appointments are conducted using technology selected to support secure healthcare communications.

Although reasonable safeguards are used, telehealth carries potential risks, including technical interruptions, unauthorized access, and limitations related to electronic communications.

Patients are encouraged to participate from a private location and avoid public or shared internet connections when possible.

Patients should use the designated secure patient portal for clinical communications rather than ordinary website contact forms or unsecured email.

5. Limitations of Telehealth

Telehealth may not be appropriate for every medical or psychiatric condition.

Limitations may include the inability to perform a complete physical examination, obtain immediate diagnostic testing, or respond directly to an emergency.

The provider may recommend laboratory testing, imaging, an in-person examination, specialist consultation, or emergency evaluation when clinically appropriate.

Dahlia Mind and Body's services are intended to complement, rather than replace, appropriate primary care, gynecologic, and other specialty services.

6. Prescriptions and Medication Management

Medication recommendations and prescriptions are based on individualized clinical assessments, medical necessity, professional judgment, and applicable federal and state laws.

A telehealth appointment does not guarantee that a prescription will be issued or renewed.

Certain medications may require additional evaluation, laboratory testing, monitoring, an in-person examination, or other conditions before prescribing.

Controlled substances are subject to additional legal and clinical requirements.

7. Technical Difficulties

If a telehealth appointment is interrupted because of internet or technology problems, the provider and patient may attempt to reconnect or use another communication method when clinically appropriate and legally permitted.

If the appointment cannot be completed safely or effectively, it may need to be rescheduled or converted to an in-person referral.

Any applicable fees or rescheduling arrangements will be governed by the practice's separate financial and appointment policies.

8. Emergency and Crisis Situations

Dahlia Mind and Body does not provide emergency medical or psychiatric services.

Telehealth appointments, website contact forms, email, and patient portal messages should not be used to request emergency assistance.

In a medical or psychiatric emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.

For mental health or suicide-related crisis support in the United States, call or text 988.

When clinically necessary, the provider may recommend emergency services or coordinate with appropriate local resources, consistent with applicable law.

9. Appointment Fees and Payment

Dahlia Mind and Body operates as a private-pay practice and does not bill insurance directly.

The initial comprehensive consultation is $300.

Superbills may be provided upon request for patients seeking possible out-of-network insurance reimbursement. Reimbursement is not guaranteed and depends on the patient's insurance benefits.

Additional fees, payment requirements, cancellations, and refunds are addressed in the practice's separate financial policies.

10. Informed Consent

Before receiving telehealth services, patients may be required to review and complete applicable informed-consent documents through the secure patient portal.

These documents explain the nature of telehealth, potential benefits and risks, alternatives, privacy considerations, and patient rights.

This website policy provides general information and does not replace individualized informed consent or other required clinical documentation.

11. Changes to This Policy

Dahlia Mind and Body may revise this policy to reflect changes in practice operations, technology, or applicable legal requirements.

Updates will be posted on this website with a revised effective date.
